Just started reading Brimstone Angels. Not to far in but you've got me hooked. I was looking for something new, just finished War of the Spider Queen for the second time.."actually read them when they first came out. But anyways I got this Amazon Kindle style and really think you've done an excellent job. I started by looking for what you envisioned Lorcan to look like on Google and came across your Slush Lush article about how you don't like Having pix of your characters...pretty funny as your example seriously blasts the tools they use in the FR examples. I linked to your FB and will follow along. I need to look up your first book to see if it's worthy...hahaha just kidding. Look forward to the rest of the book...and congrats on the birth of the rugrat and enjoy the time...Frank

Execptionally helpful and eye opening. I have been trying to force a dwarven PC (created by a fellow player) into an otherwise human dominated story but have been struggling with the back story. I realize now that no matter how much I love the character, he needs to be cut, or at the very least, altered.

Thanks for another constructive blog post.

Wanted to publicly pop in and congratulate you heartily on your son's healthy arrival and your happy days ahead.

Re: #2 & #3, these issues will continue for quite a while to come, I'm afraid (though the lack of social contact is more due now to grabbing any sleep you can).

Wholly agree on #4, though now it's much tougher to sit and hold Oscar, as he's very very verbal and insistent on moving around at high speeds, regardless of consequences. (On the up-side, listening to him mashing together songs and singing "Scooby-doobie-doompa-loompa-doompy-doo..." is hysterical.)

If you don't mind my asking, where'd you get Idris from as the baby's name? (In case it's from your book, I will regretfully admit I've yet to get to your book on my reading pile, mea culpa...)

My wife would agree re: #10; I still puzzle over the number of pictures of tiny toes and fingers we accumulated over the past 22 months.

Enjoy the holidays ahead and grab all the sleep you can--you don't want to miss a single moment of that little boy's life!

Thanks very much!

I agree about the swearing. Quick story: I used to work at WotC as an editor, and periodically we'd all read one of the books we'd put out and sort of post-mortem it with the editor. When we did Realms of the Dead, my story was called out for using those creative swears. I pointed out I would have much rather the Shepherd said "Get the fuck out of the way" to show his utter, utter terror, but we didn't do things like that so I was stuck with "stlarn" and "hrast." In the ensuing discussion (which was very spirited and interesting!), Phil Athans agreed that authors could indeed use "shit." But no "fucks."

So I went wild.

I agree with your comments on the succubi and erinyes changes for the 4E. Also thank you for writing this because I will say that I was a bit confused while reading Brimstone Angels that the erinyes didn't have wings and the last time I remembered reading a story with them in it they did, "The Empyrean Odyssey" trilogy. Since I am not a role player and focus on reading FR books only, I can see where I missed that.

Ok, the book was awesome. One of the things I really like is the fact that you were able get away with "shit" being in there as much as you did. And Mr. Greenwood said he had to write using his creative swearing language only, which I find annoying. My most hated words to read in FR books is stlarning and talunin or however they are spelled.

Ok, enough of that. Just wanted to say great book and I really look forward to reading more of your work in the future. BTW, you can read my review of Brimstone Angels on Amazon.com or goodreads.com.

I just read The God Catcher and you've just knocked a heavy off of my pedestal for best Forgotten Realms author. Tell Ed if you keep writing I'll keep buying. A great breath of fresh air and the best of the Waterdeep novels in my opinion. I'm 35 and a bit of a completist so I look forward to more from you.
